MY AD OF THE WEEK .13 APRIL FOOLS EDITION

2 Apr 2013

How many April Fools jokes were you fooled by this year? I got fooled by one. I know.

I enjoyed this one from Renault, the 'Va Va Voom Button' (not just because of the women). It wouldn't have caught anyone out, but I thought it was quite a sweet idea, bringing reminiscent scenes from past advertising to transform an ordinary British street to a French scene. I was waiting for Thierry Henry to pop out at one point.

MY AD OF THE WEEK .12 EASTER EDITION

28 Mar 2013

An Easter edition had to be done and I've just got off playing it: Tesco's new game #FindtheEggs which brings a traditional easter egg hunt into an interactive world (Google maps in this case) in a fun and playful way.

Last year I saw a campaign from M&M, which used Google maps in this hunt game style, so it's not a new concept, but where Tesco succeed and I felt M&M failed is giving smaller easy prizes to win as well as a big prize. Tesco have got eggs hidden all of the country, and if you find 3 (it only takes a minute or two) it gives you a free chocolate bunny (which you'll have to pick up in store via emailing you a voucher, nice data capture Tesco). There's also a sweet touch after you've claimed your prize, you can drop some eggs for your friends and others to find too.

INSPIRING QUOTE .14

26 Mar 2013

I just finished reading "How Not To Worry" and interesting book by Paul McGee, who has some helpfully advice on you guessed it, worrying. This is one quote I really took away from the book, that I think we all need to remember sometimes.

MY AD OF THE WEEK .11

22 Mar 2013

I've seen a few nice ads from JWT this week. But this one really stands out for me, where an estate agent shows a couple around the house. An everyday situation you think, until his patter is replaced by descriptions with a violent undertone. It makes you think of what happens out there, it's pretty shocking really.

MY AD OF THE WEEK .10

21 Mar 2013

I saw the new Old Spice ad the other day via Mashable in which Old Spice have introduced 'Wolfdog' their new executive director of marketing. There are some very funny parts in the viral, I'd love to quote some parts to you but I don't want to ruin it.

Do you think the voice box is inspired by the voice box in Pixar film 'Up'? Here is the rest of the campaign including more viral's, Wolfdog's blog and a google hangout he's done.

INSPIRING QUOTE .13

11 Mar 2013

This was one of my favourite quotes from an article I found last week "Great quotes | #549". Are there any quotes that really stands out for you?

MY AD OF THE WEEK .09

6 Mar 2013

This week it's a QR code press ad, not another one with a QR code your thinking. So many awfully ads with them being dumped on without any thought. It really does put a bad name to them. But this lovely press ad rescues them this time. It's relevant and engaging for the audience (people looking for their dream job as a tattoo artist) who have time to draw/tattoo and it rewards them with a great job opportunity. We need more ads that use QR codes in a creative way.
